June 25-30, 2018, Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU)
Participants — 300The International Summer School-Conference “Advanced Problems in Mechanics — 2018” is the forty sixth in a series of annual summer schools held by Russian Academy of Sciences. The Conference is organized by Institute for Problems in Mechanical Engineering of Russian Academy of Sciences (IPME RAS) and Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) under the patronage of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). APM 2018 is partially supported by Russian Foundation for Basic Research. The main purpose of the meeting is to gather specialists from different branches of mechanics to provide a platform for cross-fertilisation of ideas. The list of problems under investigation is not limited to questions of mechanical engineering, but includes practically all advanced problems in mechanics, which is reflected in the name of the conference. The main attention is given to problems on the boundary between mechanics and other research areas, which stimulates the investigation in such domains as micro- and nanomechanics, material science, physics of solid states, molecular physics, astrophysics and many others. The conference “Advanced Problems in Mechanics” helps us to maintain the existing contacts and to establish new ones between foreign and Russian scientists.
July 16-19, 2018, SPbU CampusWe welcome you to attend 2d international conference «Bioinformatics: from Algorithms to Applications» that will be held from July 16 to July 19 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Modern life science studies involve both biological and computational methods. Breakthrough results in these fields can only be achieved by tight communication and knowledge exchange between the two sides. The ultimate goal of the conference is to bring together bioinformaticians and biologists to share experience in development and practical application of bioinformatics algorithms.
August 20-25, 2018, hotel "Izmailovo Alfa", Moscow, Russia
Participants — 100The main objective of the IUTAM Symposium on Mechanical design and analysis for Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies is to provide possibilities for a joint discussion of fundamental, computational, and applied problems in the new scientific area by leading specialists in mechanics, mathematics, physics and technology, facilitate the exchange of recent ideas and achievements, and work out the main directions of further development. The symposium program includes topics such as AM theory and principles, methods for mechanical research of AM fabricated parts, mechanical design for optical fabrication, laser sintering and melting, electro-beam melting, fused deposition modeling, fused filament fabrication, laminated object manufacturing, and electrolytic formation, etc.
September 3-8, 2018, Ambassador hotelAccretion is a universal phenomenon that takes place in the vast majority of astrophysical objects. The progress of ground-based and space-borne observational facilities has resulted in the great amount of information on various accreting astrophysical objects, collected within the last decades. The accretion is accompanied by the process of extensive energy release that takes place on the surface of an accreting object and in various gaseous envelopes, accretion disk, jets and other elements of the flow pattern. The results of observations inspired the intensive development of accretion theory, which, in turn, enabled us to study unique properties of accreting objects and physical conditions in the surrounding environment. One of the most interesting outcomes of this intensive study is the fact that accretion processes are, in a sense, self- similar on various spatial scales from planetary systems to galaxies. This fact gives us new opportunities to investigate objects that, by various reasons, are not available for direct study. Cataclysmic variable stars are unique natural laboratories where one can conduct the detailed observational study of accretion processes and accretion disks. This is the main reason why several participants and a few members of the Organizing Committee of the conference «The Golden Age of Cataclysmic Variables and Related Objects –IV» (September 11-16, 2017, Palermo, Italy) have decided to hold the second special conference, focused on accretion processes, as a branch of that series.
04-06 October 2018, Hotel "Ambassador", Saint Petersburg
Participants — 350Many distinguished cardiologists and specialists in the field of echocardiography have agreed to join the faculty participating in this Congress. The plenary sessions and symposia will cover lectures and other scientific presentations. A special separate session will be devoted to poster presentations. In addition, workshops and round tables will be organized which will provide education in all practical aspects of echocardiography. We assure you that the Congress will be a major scientific event and hope you will participate actively by presenting your research and other educational material. Your interactions with your colleagues from different countries will help stimulate a creative exchange of ideas which could be useful to you personally. We look forward to your active participation in the International Congress ofEchocardiography in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, St. Petersburg in Russia.
November 12-15, 2015, IMC RAS
Participants — 200The conference is devoted to the topical issues of modern polymer science. Among the most important scientific problems that will be discussed are the synthesis and study of “smart” polymers, the design of polymer composites and production of composites based on thermoplastic polymers, the study of biopolymers and polymers for medical purpose. Young scientists (under 35 years old), PhD students, master students, and graduate students are invited for participation in the Conference as main speakers. 200 persons are expected to attend the Conference. More than 80 oral presentations (for 15 minutes) and about 100 posters are planned for scientific conference program. Since 2005, thirteen annual St. Petersburg Conferences of young scientists “Modern problems of the science of polymers” took place.
